Mubashir Saddique

A Simple Man From a Small Town, Mubashir Saddique recently crossed 3.6 million+ followers on his YouTube channel, Village Food Secrets. The channel has majorly amassed an international following which resurfaces due to the nostalgia that can be observed in Saddique’s videos regarding our very own traditional village life and recipes.

The channel offers an insight into the life of a technology less cooking where simpler and less modern methods are used to prepare delicious continental and traditional dishes. Mubashir shares his story where he was a factory worker and barely earned Rs15,000 per month as his wage. He has a limited educational background that caused various problems but he always felt the need to do better. When he posted his first video it led to an incredible response from the audience. With limited equipment and expertise for Youtube and social media at that time Mubashir was flabbergasted and earned way more than his monthly salary just by posting the single video.

From there on his success journey began. He learned camera and editing skills and to date has posted a total of 1177 videos where each video has above 500k plus views. In his exclusive interview for Page 3, he still remains humble and kind at heart and thanks God for all his blessings. Ameena Ilahi

Ameena Ilahi is the The Asia Foundation's Deputy Country Representative in Pakistan. Ms. Ilahi brings a wide range of development experience with particular interest in results-based monitoring and evaluation, program design and development, grants management, and communications.

Previously in Pakistan she worked primarily with international humanitarian organizations; she served as the monitoring and reporting specialist with Experience International on a large-scale agriculture project funded by the U.S Department of Agriculture. With the International Relief and Development, she was the monitoring and evaluation reporting manager where she led the development of the M&E framework, donor compliance and reporting, and capacity building of partner organizations. As the senior grants manager with Relief International, she managed a range of emergency response grants during the country's internal displacement crisis and flood disaster. As the grants and communication manager with the International Rescue Committee she was responsible for the entire grants administration cycle and the point person for all communications and outreach.

Prior to arriving in Pakistan, Ms. Ilahi worked as program coordinator with the Foundation for International Training where she undertook review missions to the Baltic States, developed proposals for CIDA in the areas of governance and human rights, and worked with partners in Egypt and Romania on developing effective communication strategies. She later served as the Research Grants facilitator at Brock University, assisting teaching staff in identification and development of research proposals and forging new partnerships with funders.

Ms. Ilahi brings direct country experience in Pakistan, Egypt, Romania, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Norway, and has worked in varied development sectors, including child rights, gender and development, emergency response, post-conflict development, good governance/democratization, water, sanitation & hygiene, agriculture, institutional strengthening and capacity building.

Education: Ms. Ilahi holds a BA in Sociology/Anthropology from Carleton University in Canada and an MSc in Agricultural Development from the University of London, UK.

Khalid Siraj Subhani

Mr Khalid Subhani is the Chief Executive Officer for Engro Fertilizers Limited and Senior Vice President for Engro Corporation Limited.

Mr. Subhani is a Director on the Boards of Engro Corporation Limited, Engro Fertilizers Limited, Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, Engro EXIMP Private Limited and Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of Avanceon in the past.

Mr. Subhani began his career in the Manufacturing Division at Exxon Chemical Pakistan Limited in 1983 and has held a variety of leadership roles within the Company, including long term assignment with Esso Chemical Canada. He has served as Manager for New Projects, General Manager for Operations, Vice President for Manufacturing, and Senior Vice President for Manufacturing and New Ventures.

Mr. Subhani is a member of the Pakistan Engineering Council, Faculty Selection Board, Institute of Business Management, Sukkur, and Standing Committee on Environment of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industries. He has also been a member of Federal Government’s Committee on Dawood Engineering College rejuvenation and American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Mr. Subhani graduated from Dawood College of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan with a degree in Chemical Engineering and has completed programs on advance management from MIT and Hass School of Business Management, University of Berkely, USA. He and his wife have two daughters and a son.

Ch Abdul Ghafoor Khan

Ch Abdul Ghafoor Khan, Food Minister Government of Punjab, son of Ch Surjan Khan was born on September 10, 1960 in Lahore. He graduated in 1994 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. An agriculturist, who served as Member, District Council Lahore. He remained Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 1997-99 and 2002-07 and has returned to Punjab Assembly for the third consecutive term in general elections 2008. He has functioned as Minister for Prisons from 27 June 2008 to 29 June 2010 and now is functioning as Minister for Food Punjab.
