Samina Raja

Samina Raja is a well known Pakistani Urdu poetess, blue-penciler, decoder, writer, broadcaster and mentor. She was born in 11th September 1961 in Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan. Her residence is in Islamabad and she has master degree in Urdu Literature from Punjab University Lahore. She works in National Language Authority as a subject specialist. She started writing poetry in 1973 and has published her 12 books of poetry including “2 Kulliat and 1 selection of her romantic poetry so far”. She has written her some books in Urdu prose and translated some valuable work from English to Urdu. She joined national book foundation as a professional advisor and editor of monthly “Kitab” in 1998.

She also joined monthly “Aassar” in 1998 as an editor. She has been conducting “All Pakistan Mushairas” as a broadcaster since 1995 on PTV “Pakistan Television”. Samina Raja has also presented a long series of famous scholarly program “Urdu Adab Main Aurat Ka Kirdar” (The Role of Woman in Urdu Literature) on Pakistan Television. Samina Raja has planning to bring out new literary magazine “Khwabgar” (The Dream Maker) and “Ahmad Faraz (a great Urdu poet) number. She has been writing since 1973.
